Would love a walkthrough  So quite jealous

Oooops just caught the rest of the pics :o
Another fantastic resto job going on - total admiration
Hi. A few years ago I replaced the old oven with a newer one, now hinged on the back of the passenger seat, to allow for standing outside and cooking, also lifts off and can go anywhere, 2 rings grill and oven - very useful.
Crazy curtains went too. Oh, and a portaloo where the old oven was. All mod con's!

Walkthrough is definitely very nice to have, but I'm hankering after a flipseat (just a little bit!)

It's not a full resto, just enough to get through an MOT, more welding will be needed in the next few years. (all 4 wheelarches. rear corners, battery trays etc)

not the best pic, but more recent interior -

bother, another bit to sort before the MOT

a previous lazy patch just dumped over rust, with a good amount of filler and newspaper, nice.

Bit more progress over the last two days. Some very basic filler work etc. Rear wheel bearings replaced, brake shoes replaced, rear wheel camber improved, link pin adjusted.

A year to the day later & many miles in between the rebuilds, more work happening to the bus.

Rebuilt gearbox, mid-mount & new modified stock cradle all being fitted in a dry run. The old CE frame horns & the OG hacked cradle were removed first.

First of many trial fits of the engine. It used to lean over to one side and low due to a bad IRS conversion. Now sits square & level.

So the donor OG cradle, (thanks to Rick @ Schofields for supplying & Brian for collecting) is now welded in.

While removing the OG bump stops & shock mounts some more thin areas were found, so they were cut out.

Image

Seam sealed & shultz'd then new brake lines & fuel system back in.

Image

Some areas at the front were not done during the main welding exercise so picked these up now too.

Image

And finally the bus feels like its going back together, dash wired back up, pedals restored & refitted, heating ductwork double insulated & shiny new adjustable IRS, (modified Porsche A-arms) & rear disks (CSP) going on.

Can you spot your old parts? A-arms / stub axles / nose cone body panel (that got robbed from the pickup)

Engine finally in for good.

Image

Indicators relocated down into the headlights.

A million other jobs, some unexpected like having to cut off the wheel arch bumper mounts from the NEW arches as they didn't line up with the front bumper preventing it from being fitted, that's despite the welder having the bumpers to do alignment tests... and starter motor decided not to work correctly after its winter hibernation.

But the good news, new MOT!

Top work Jim, don't suppose you fancy relocating up north ;-))
Were the link rods long enough on the csp linkage? When Pete burgess set the carbs up on the 56 he nearly ran out of thread on the rods

It all depends on what carb's & manifold you use.

On some setups the linkage works fine, on others not so good. Jen has throttle bodies so that linkage doesn't really suit them as the push/pull action is all wrong when coming off idle which is when you need it to be silky smooth. So that's on the cards for a redesign once everything else is sorted.

Some work to Jen's this year when we've not been working on the Pickup.

Shame the shot blaster warped the panel on the new tailgate, but you live and learn.

New etch primed then sealed with white.
