Poorly 1500 engine

Post by frilly »

Good evening, I have just imported a 67 westy and just had a few moments to try to start engine. Started relatively easy ! Trouble is have a deep knocking from the bottom end( I think) oil reading on the bottom line of stick . Took of fan belt to reveal loads of end play , question is is this a new engine or can something be done? All I've done is connect battery and check oil , nothing else . Kind regards Neil

Sounds like the engine needs a bottom end rebuild. Easy if you know how - but a bit daunting if not. Don't try to run it again - you risk doing more damage to the case.
