Dormobile roof conversion

Post by paulster »

Hi all,

I have a 1965 RHD which has been kitted out nicely with a camper conversion. We are thinking of having a Dormobile roof conversion fitted with twin bunks, my question is, would getting this done de-value the camper in anyway? Or on the flip side add to the value?

Thank you for any assistance.

Paul.

This is all a matter of opinion!
IMHO... They are desirable if you are looking for a bus for camping? Added value for me!

Pluses.
Can stand up. I am 6' 2 1/2"!
Can add bunks for children/ upper storage.
Added light through window
Added ventilation
Increased cargo area volume

Minuses
May leak
Wind resistance/ maybe added noise
Increased height garage clearance?
Expensive to have done by Pro company
Maybe mossie entry through vents
Maybe take down if windy..

I have two with pop tops and two without. Only one pop top has bunks but wish to add to use for storing stuff!
We only use pop top when camping set up for extended stay

Just do your research, some of the conversations aren't as good as original

Agreed!
Martin Walter Dormobile takes some beating!
Steven Jones resurrection of his OG Dormobile is an inspiration! Rusty1962 cut and fitted his during his restoration.
There is a thread by jaysk about having a new Dormobile top fitted to his Devon. Not cheap but he is the person to comment!
