Retrosounds Radio to replace Blaupunkt unit

Post by Andy C »

Hi all,

I'm thinking of replacing my Blaupunkt Mannheim Mono radio with a Retrosounds radio (Probably the San Diego). Anyone have any reviews or experience of these? Does the range on the bluetooth work well in a bus?

Main reason for the change is to enable bluetooth so my kids can deafen me with 'Little Mix' etc from the back! The Blaupunkt unit has the Aux input lead via the DIN connector on the back but would prefer Bluetooth and also want to add speakers in the back.. My dash has the original aperture so the only option to upgrade seems to be the Retrosounds unit.

Depending on the reviews and if I decide to change change I may have the Blaupunkt unit available if anyone is interested.

I don't know about Retrosounds, but someone posted a link to this company on Facebook a few weeks ago.

They look better than retrosounds. Not sure what the quality is like though...

Personally I don't like the Retrosounds units. They're pretty power hungry compared to other head units and you can't turn the displays off, so they use power all the time.

I'd get your current radio modified to run bluetooth / aux inputs etc etc. It'll look a lot better too.
Supplying quality in house designed items plus parts from SyncLink, Kennedy Clutches, & CB Performance. Also fitting service including modifications & mechanical upgrades.

Thanks all, definitely worth canvassing opinion.

The fact that the retrosounds display doesn't turn off is a real issue. I've wired my radio direct to the leisure battery. I'll give Wlamley a call and see what he can do plus there's another guy in Bristol who does this too. .

Thanks again!
