I can see it being worth 14.5 k, but the bed isn't original. It's supposed to be corrogated steel. I'd pay 11k for it.

Interesting to know what market this was built for with the air intakes? behind the cab..Built in Germany RHD. Flat bed.. is that wood or steel? Has the original bed been covered with board?

The M-plate details would clarify, but my money would be on it being a SA export model.

Yes my thoughts too.. BUT.. the SA was making pick ups in 66. The SA made doka had two engine vents with intakes just above drop gate level at the rear..

Those vents arent original, I have a German built 65 Sc with high vents from Namibia, the setup was the same for australia and other dusty climates

The vents are just on the back of the cab, with the intake running through a channel under the bed into the engine bay.

SA had both locally produced CKD splits and German built buses. The vin plate shows the difference, as well as if original the domestic supplied glass etc.

Yes the VIN plate shows it is German built but I was not aware the VW were sending any buses to SA around this time.

Previous Pick up vents thread about SA built DOKA vehicles ..mentions SC's with ears..

The double cab is different to the single cab, the vents are in a different place.

From memory the factory in SA started in the 50's
Many early busses including a handful of german barndoor were sent to South africa and surrounding countries.

Hello everyone,
The van is indeed from SA, the vents duct into a channel under the bed. The bed itself is smooth and we think it’s might be covering up an original corrugated one.
