Newbie looking for my first VW split screen camper

Post by cavendish » Tue Sep 17, 2019 4:28 pm

Hi all. I am new to the forum but have been lurking in the background for a while now gleaming as much information as possible about these great camper Vans.
I have had several classic cars in the past but now I have grandchildren I am looking for a VW camper van so as we can have days out as a family in the beautiful New Forest, which is on my doorstep here in Hampshire.
I am looking for an early split screen if possible as these appeal to me more than the later buses. I would also prefer to buy from someone who has cherished their van and looked after it so a forum member would be an ideal seller as forum members seem to love and cherish their vehicles.
I have a maximum budget of £25,000.
If anyone has a splitty they are thinking of selling and it is a nice honest camper then please get in touch.
Thanks in advance.
Steve

Hi Steve
Have a look in for sale section at my advert for my silver van.
You’ll probably find shinier versions but this is a well loved and looked after van that you and your family can enjoy straight away.
Cheers
Paul

Hi Paul.
Yes I have seen your advert, thank you, but to be honest I am not keen on the colour.
Good luck with the sale though.
Thanks
Steve

Hi Steve,

A shame she isn't an early one as , for you, she'd be within budget.

My van is for sale, been with me for 10 years now and I have been a ssvc member since then, which is when I purchased from an existing club member, so the van has been in the ssvc a lot longer than that! I would definitely call it a nice honest camper.

Anyway, the bus is a 1964 RHD Devon. We have been around various parts of the UK and also France a couple of times, never had any problems, just take it easy and the van keeps going. For the last 2 years I have not been able to use the van, and it seems a crying shame to have her sat in the garage gathering dust, I keep the MOT current so it has one until June 2020.

If you are still looking and are interested then let me know and I can send you some more information / pictures. The van was valued by the club at £28,500, but I would happily settle around £25,000, particularly if going to a good home.

Cheers

After having been let down twice now by people who offered to sell me their early splitscreen buses only to then decide they dont want to sell them after all, I am still looking for an early bus. Please let me know if you are considering selling yours. Either rhd or lhd but the earlier the better.
Thanks

Hi Lloyd.
Thanks for the offer but not really what I am looking for.
Good luck with the sale though.
