1964 UK RHD Camper

Post by Volksdragon » Thu Aug 01, 2019 8:51 pm

Tis with very heavy hearts we have decided to part with our beloved bus after 10 years. We are just not able to use him as he should be – last 12 months have covered about 500 miles on two w/e trips.

Aubrey is 1964 original UK RHD microbus, bought in a fairly dilapidated state in 2009 and then went through a full bare metal professional restoration including:

- New front clip
- New long side panel
- New Rear quarters
- Replacement Tailgate
- Replacement Cargo doors
- Replaced Both doors & all locks
- Front sills – both sides
- Floor pan in front
- Rubber seals all round
- Internal cards
- Recon steering box
- Re-wired with big leisure battery, electric hook up and DC / AC invertor.
- Sandblasted, primed – sprayed original VW cream up top & dark green pearl metallic below, with fine silver pinstripe. Looks awesome combo in sunlight.
- Very rare Lucas NOS front spot lamps.
- New 3 bow stainless roof rack & ladder. Side step.
- Professionally undersealed 3 years ago – every possible nook and cranny – no rot below.

- 1641 Re-con engine to Beetle box – (has about 4K miles on it since fitting in 2014.) Recent conversion to electronic ignition. Copper fuel lines. Remote permanent fan oil cooler underneath – this engine will NOT overheat. Full stainless exhaust - swapped out the EMPI one shown. Happy to chugg along at 60 - 70mph all day long.

Fitted out as a 2/3 berth camper c/w:

One off oak furniture in traditional style (Devonish) comprising Fridge, Cooker c/w cupboard under, Door mounted plate cabinet, OH Locker, Sink Unit & Drainer, Devon style drop down table, rear wardrobe & cubby. Rock n’ roll bed and kids hammock bed in front cab. Lined curtains all round. Fully insulated behind flocked plywood panels with 2” eco-friendly wool insulation.
Comes with 2 bed matching spacemaker awning, as shown – superb bit of sturdy kit this. Full metal frame.
He does have a couple of very minor surface scratches, and paint is bubbling around a couple of window frames and a couple of places on roof gutter and bumpers. Fuel gauge doesn’t work. So every 100 miles, top up. Otherwise, a solid practical and useable bus.
Not a show winner – never was done to be, but never fails to be much admired, wherever we go.

£27 K all in – but will accept higher offers ;o). Located in N. Wales nr Chester.
