1971 15 Window Deluxe Splitscreen £34,995 ono
My 1971 Brazillian 15 window ‘Sofia’. I have been her custodian for the past 9 years when she was imported to the UK from Peru. Over the past 3 years she has gone through a major refurbishment to include a full bare-metal respray and a new engine, gearbox, brakes, steering box to name a few. In total I have receipts for over £25k.
The restoration has been done to allow her to be driven safely in modern traffic without being obviously upgraded. I have been using her as my daily driver for the passed 2 months and she hasn’t missed a beat. Prior to this she has completed a 6-month European tour travelling from the UK to Malta and back! Sofia is truly a well tested and reliable campervan which has been respectfully upgraded so as not appear different, but has all the features you would want to confidently travel over an extended period.
• 1776cc Engine with dual Weber 34 ICT (VW Engine Company installed)
• Rancho Freeway Flyer Gearbox (Enlarged 4th for cruising) twinned with reconditioned reduction gearboxes
• Lite-Steer electronic power assisted steering
• Bay window Devon interior
• Wagenswest Babystang front disk brakes (fit behind original 14” stock wheels)
• VW Jim servo assisted dual circuit master cylinder
• 12V alternator conversion to include leisure battery with split charger
• Propex Heater
• 3 Bow westfalia style roof rack
• Large 12V Compressor Fridge
• Cab bunk (westfalia style front seat hammock)
Mileage: 14500 (Reset on refit)

I will be very sad to see her go, however I am due to relocate overseas where she is unlikely to get sufficient use and would rather pass her to the next custodian to enjoy.

Based in Lavenham, Suffolk. (Oxfordshire during March 19)
