More running woes

Post by Robbievanguy » Wed Nov 07, 2018 6:51 am

Ok engine fires up instantly and idles beautifully ,choke works ,revved up to max no probs ,soon as I go into gear and change up to 2nd it pops misses bangs and gets bogged down so 2nd isn't an option ,when back in neutral go to the engine revs perfect again any ideas it's 1600 single port stock carb VW carb pump ,coil etc .

I would check the timing first.. Do you have an electronic dizzy or points, if the latter check the gaps..

What dizzy, carb combo do you have ??

Hi
If you’re running points and condenser it sounds like the condenser is braking down.
You might as well Fit new points, condenser, rotor arm and distributor cap at the same time.
Cheers John.

Hi
Just change the condenser then, that should sort it.

Check that the accellerator pump on the carb is working properly.
