Passenger 1/4 - Quarter light catch breaking

Post by splitintwo » Thu Jul 12, 2018 11:56 am

Hi,

I'm on my second repro catch now and they keep breaking it's getting stupid, changed the whole frame outer seal as whistled etc, I thought it could be a bad seal and causing strain on the frame and catch....but the next catch broke, I'm not here to knock Vw suppliers but the last one was from CC, as I thought the last one look weak I'd get a quality one (their stuff is great btw)

So looking for a strong catch (or even an old rusty original)
Honestly tho its like fine tuning an engine with the catch keeper plate and the 1/4 light frame spring adjustment....
When I'm out and about now I worry now as its easy anyway it get in a camper, but now its a free invitation till its fixed

Just thought it could be the passenger 8O....

Thanks
*it came home.. and it went and it hasn't come home again... and probably wont come home for a long while PLEASE STOP SINGING ABOUT IT!

Yes the push button rotating chrome catch, I looked at his post and I don't think they are the ones.
But thanks!

How are you closing the quarter light? I always reach out the sliding window and push it shut from outside, taking the pressure off the catch then lock it.

The handles weren't strong.

Hi Ben
There are two qualities of these, the pathetic muck metal ones that snap even in a completely stock original bus, and the catches from Wolfsburg West sold by Schofields that are as strong as the originals. Both the same price - no contest about which to buy?
