D stamped crank pulley

Post by JonnyCJ » Mon Jun 11, 2018 9:03 pm

Managed to get hold of a 178mm OG crank pulley with a D stamp. I also have a standard OG 170mm pulley.

I’m running a 1776 so would naturally assume the larger pulley will give me more turns of the fan and therefore better cooling.

Anyone see any flaws in this plan ?

I’m running J tubes and OG tin, flaps and doghouse shroud etc.

Cheers

Jonny

D pulley is for dynamo so yes it will give you slightly better cooling.

From what I’ve read they were fitted to 12v engines, so post dating dynamos ?

I fitted one to my 1600 earlier this year to replace an aluminium pulley put on by the previous owner. It's supposed to be the correct pulley for a 1600 dual port.

I can't say whether it has improved cooling (I didn't sense a problem before, but I don't do high mileage). It has stopped an irritating oil leak from behind the pulley though.

Lots of 12v engines from 1967 were fitted with dynamos.
