Do plenty of research as well ! Tinternet is a mine of information, so worth finding out why you’re doing things before doing them.

There's always the tech weekend at Eddy's but that's quite a run from Cornwall

Picture of carb attached - a Solex 30PICT-3. Is that much different from the 34PICT-3?
The VW resource has some good info on VW carbs and explains the differences...
http://www.vw-resource.com/carb.html#30. The 30s have a narrower throat, so have slightly less capacity to 'breath' in the fuel air mixture. The engine will develop slightly less power than it would with a 34, but that link says the difference probably isn't noticeable around town and 30s were common replacements for 34s in Australia due to the cost of 34s.
The PICT bit is explained here...

Quick question. I have been looking for a stereo. I assume that this would fit OK?
Its a 1960s Blaupunkt KDB 961-826B
Cheers
Mark

That should fit perfectly, however, Rich Oakley on here is the expert in Blaupunkts.
Bear in mind that with the advances in Bluetooth speakers, radio via phone etc etc you may not actually need a fully functioning radio, but just something as a dash filler.

Thanks Jonny
Yeah I doubt we would ever actually use the radio itself. It has a din input so I was either going to connect up a 3.5mm connection here for phone etc or get a very small amplifier which can be hidden and has an auxiliary input. The latter should then allow stereo sound from the aux whilst still being able to listen to the old radio if we ever wanted to - seems wrong to me having a stereo which is not functional at all. The working stereo is only £70 anyway which seems quite good to me?

Not yet unfortunately. I have been travelling a bit with work (was back in London again yesterday) so haven't had a chance to do anything. It will probably have to be the weekend now
I am taking it to a Air Kraft / Matt Keane on Saturday morning to meet him and ask him about some other bits that need doing. I might also get him to take a look.
