Moving on to the chassis.

So the bus is having a large engine fitted which means it’s having an oil cooler, a concept racing oil filter! But with belly pans this causes a fitment issue, so here is what we have done.

First a custom top housing with a rear scoop, then to the bus and modify the rear crossmember so it fits.

Next box in the crossmember and weld in the top housing.

Tomorrow we’ll be modifying the centre belly pan to accept the oil cooler and make the whole job look smart.

Nice to see air path out of a cooler been thought about.
Over thought more like, hours of test fitting and modification to get a simple air duct design and welded in.

So the belly pan has been cut and extra support will be welded to the cut edges for a little more strength (these pans like to twist a lot), with the cooler fitted on the duct it still hangs low enough to catch air and not cause a issue.
To the rear of the duct I’ve made an exit scoop pushing the air down so hopefully it will not flow back up to the dog house oil cooler vent on the engine. (Well that’s the idea what it really does we’ll never know...) below the exit duct is where the oil pipes and electric wires will go and this has a cover plate (yet to be drill as we don’t have the oil pipe work yet).
The belly pan and cover plate will have rubber backing installed to help keep water and dirt out.
