I should add that for £700 it was not in running or roadworthy condition. Also in 2003 I bought another 11 window for £150 which I swapped for a mint pair of cab doors that are on Ruby. The guy still has that bus but not on the road. It's the blue and silver roof chopped suicide door bus that was built by Volksheaven I believe. I'll try and find a photo of it at vanfest or bugjam in the 90's.

Bought mine in San Francisco in 2008 for £3500 including the shipping to the UK.

Needed about £200 spent to get it roadworthy but did quite a bit more for peace of mind. (About £800)

Still got it. Still use it and abuse it regularly.

We actually drove it from the VW workshop where we bought it from (£50!!) to the place that did the welding (via our house) some 15 or so miles on crossply tyres and with no real problems.

bought our 67 Devon in 1978 for £500 and could not afford the orig Devon awning at £50 extra!
at the time was also offered a totally MINT 68 bay devon for £1000 which seemed exorbitant and more than I could dream of ever scraping together!

I was asked by a friends dad to see if I could find him a splittie when I went to America for my 2nd time.

He wanted something with an interior, engine and preferably domething that didn't need a lot of welding. Had a budget of £7k

Tall order but found him one.

To cut a long story short I ended up buying it and paying for shipping it home but then he started haggling and haggling to the point that I was about to let him have it for £4.5K

I decided to keep it.

Nearly there now :D

Bought my '62 RHD Samba for £1500 in 1996. It came from Sweden and was very complete but needed a total resto with lots of new metal. After on/off periods (mostly off) of activity, it finally hit the road in 2013 - although the interior is still not finished! Aiming for Stanford Hall next year.
