where's good in devon/cornwall

Post by presland123 » Sun Mar 20, 2011 6:14 pm

Usually go to cornwall, but as its around 700 mile trip from Grantham, thought I would see about Devon.

Thinking late April for a few days, in the bus with a dog, ideally close to the beach so I can get some surf in without having to drive too far and bus friendly.

Any ideas

cheers

Try Morte Hoe campsite in North Devon, ignore the static caravans as you drive in. It has a massive field at the back with uninterupted views out to sea. It is also close to Woolcoombe beach.

Heres a pic from a couple of years ago

Just returned from a week in Croyde at Bay View farm, very clean, nice showers etc, 10 min to beach, always other campers on site when we were there. I'd happily recommend it!

Any good recommendations for North Devon? Hoping to head down that way mid Sept for a week. I see most of the previous posts are from a few years ago so not sure if the sites are still good? :-(

Am trying http://www.cerenetycampsite.co.uk/ near Bude this weekend. Could be good if you like that basic/wild/eco camping kind of thing. Will report back on how it is.

So this site is good if you like back to basics - solar showers, compost loos etc. They provide a nice breakfast of crepes out of a shed, and have good 4G reception if you can't live without your web fix :-)

Bales Ash : Very nice site, if a little exposed to the wind.
