Dome tents big enough for a type 2 inside

Post by pisces » Wed Oct 17, 2018 11:30 am

Hi Everyone,

Not sure this is the right place to ask but looking to find out brands or where to buy a dome tent suitable for camping but also covering the 67 bus I have just restored.

A few photos attached of what I am looking for

Thank you,

Peter

Hi
It’s a Coleman event shelter. You need the 15 x 15 ft or 4.5m x 4.5m size
There are 3 types with different levels of water proofing
Suggest you look at the pro or deluxe version. Shop around on the internet as plenty of deals

Note the side panels are optional extras and not interchangeable between pro and deluxe versions
Cheers
Aaron

Do not buy anything smaller.. Van will not fit inside!

is this taking camping a bit to far, i mean, taking a garage to put the van in so you can camp inside the garage and sleep inside the van inside the garage.....

Hi Ron..
I camped dowm in Frejus France and it was so hot you could not touch the surface of the car, van or caravans..
A lot of the seasoned French campers had stretched sheets above their caravans to keep the sun from falling directly onto the surface.. I copied with my trailer tent n Galaxy and it did make it cooler.

Fair enough in high temps G but we live in a very wet place, I've seen these used at Viccy Farm where space CAN be limited, but guys turn up with these big awnings, tents, call them what you like, so they have their event shelter, then they put up a shelter to sit around in of an evening with fire and you get two or three of these things then they take up a cast area, especially if your on hook up, you can imagine the room they take up, not a winge as it's a free world but if this is more than a fad then I see trouble ahead.....

I agree.. My eldest has a teepee which has a large footprint and when they go family camping with about 4 families they arrange ahead to have permission to bring a dome for a comunal area. They park cars away from tents and set up a tent circle wagon train area with central dome.
They jointly bought a 12' dome. My stock van would not fit under it!
I have been considering buying a dome but already have CP, Devon, and Sundial cargo door awnings and a choice of Devon Car tent, Invader, Westy and ?drive away awnings.
I really must select what to keep and sell the rest to downsize!
