Just a couple tonight, managed to get the rear end all soundproofed up, 2 layers of flashing band on the whole lot except the arches, they got 3, and then a layer of acoustic damping heat retaining foam. Tedious work, but makes a huge difference!

Image

Need to put the gearbox access hatch back on and give that the same treatment next time, but need to find the seal first, I put it somewhere 'safe', doh!

Then the money shot...

Image

This just makes me smile! I need to give it a bit of a buff up to get it semi shiny but its looking exactly how we wanted it to.

Next job is get the bumper on, the original mounts wont work, so I need to mock it all up and get the welder out, the actual bumper needs prepping too so that will take a little time. Not sure where the exhaust will exit yet, depends on which way I bring it out of the turbo... hmmm drawing time me thinks!

Cheers guys!!

Hey mate, dads getting there slowly, he popped up earlier again and tinkered for a bit, its good to see him getting back to his usual antics.

Cheers on the bus too, happy with how its turning out ;)

Cheers pal, hopefully wont be too long away, Im motivated to get it done now so am trying to use all my spare time up there.

As for the lights, I know, I tried them both ways and prefer it that way to be honest, not sure why, just do?!? Im odd like that :) well spotted though :) obviously got an eye for detail. It will probably get pointed out a LOT so I'll end up flipping them after a few shows probably ... maybe!

Gla to hear your dad is up and tinkering

You know that you can legally fit all red rear lenses on yours as it's pre 65?

Interesting...
No stated upper or lower order for indicator or position indicator lamps....
Looks like they can be either way up..
Just looks so wrong to a stock man...
LOL

Glad your Father is getting involved...again...
Major confidence threat..having this happen...
Being able to get back to tinkering is just what you both need..
I have not sufferrd s msjot setback....just high bloof ptessure and allied issues but I am still working and tinkering and creaking a little too.. LOL

Yeah I looked at them, but when I had them fitted to my old Ghia, I kept getting pulled for them, I live right next to the Police HQ, so anything like that is just a pain. They never did anything as I always politely explained they were legal, but its just the hassle factor...

You know me by now Mr G, looking wrong, standard and all other norms are just not in my vocabulary ;) ;) I dont mean to offend ones eyes, its just the way Im wired hehe.

Glad to hear you still tinker, even if you creak. A few well aimed beverages of the lubricating type tend to help a lot Ive heard! LOL

Looks sick mate

I got my air ride plumbed in today too. Soooo satisfying :)

Just left it at low PSI overnight to see if it leaks before giving it some proper action tomorrow. Will try and get a video.

Doesn't actually take that long to plumb in does it but I know the thought and planning and preparation that goes into getting it this far so hats off to you

My that looks low...
Looking good.

Need input...
What?
Where?
Why,?
Who?
When..?

Maybe just Maybe I can see an air ride system on a Blade Runner imaged Blue black (like night Sky) painted double door or double slider panel van on black alloy wheels or black steels with black hub caps and blackwalled wide tyres.. (no bling) black everything

Black VW badge
Black pop outs in cargo doors
Black safaris front n rear
Black commercial mirrors.
Black headlamp surrounds
Black Hella rear light surrounds..
NO BLING JUST STEALTH..
Black chromate exhaust.
Blacked bolts..

Mmmm
Maybe..
67 late double door or double slider panel van anywhere?
Sorry Lagavulin makes me do it..
Vangelis Blade Runner sound track too

Ta dude, didn't realise you were going air too! Sorry. It is awesomely satisfying yeah, a tonne of planning goes into it, but the first time you hear the 'hiss' of air going into the bags, its worth it. Hope yours didn't settle overnight and held up, I have a little bottle of air line sealant for the threads etc as theres usually one that leaks a tiny amount.

Looking forward to seeing your video...
