1961 Project so23

Post by pokey »

Heres my latest project i recently bought, second split although the first project never took off as the van was too much off a mess, Bought it a few weeks ago so only just getting to grips with the steep learning curve of aircooled vw's. Unfortunatly didnt even get me home when buying it a helicoiled spark plug popped out rendering one of the heads useless!

Unfortunatly not knowing about some parts relating to the year inccorectly fitted and the front seat i didnt know was wrong ive got a growing list of parts to change... all good fun eh?

The stripes are almost gone! As is a fair bit of the paint! More bad news tonight on the engine front the chambers are full of oil so I will be adding barrels and pistons to the new head required!

If you are putting barrels and pistons on I would split the case and check it all out - lots of people have put on new top ends and then had a bottom end failure
