I have for a long time been trying to get a good radio signal for my bus radio. When I restored my bus
I decided not to fit an external aerial and opted for a concealed one, I have tried all types, under body,
amplified, hidden, etc. But none have worked well enough to keep.
I had resigned myself to drilling holes to fit an external aerial. Searching the net for a period
one, I wanted a red tip Hirschmann antenna, I found this and had an idea!

It is made to clamp onto the top of a wind down window and is designed to allow the window to shut.

But a bus hasn't got wind down windows I hear you say, but it does have sliding ones :)
so taking my life in my hands I carefully bent the solid section of the aerial through 90 degrees

The little lever operates the rubber lined clamp

Now you can to fit it to your bus sliding window

Window closed with cable attached

I've now got great radio reception and its quick to remove and keep in your dash under tray
Happy days :D

....doooh that is bang on period for your van....I knew they did one to clamp somehow but have never even seen one.. something else to copy..I did look at red tipped hirschmanns but never seen this variety! I like you did not want to drill holes..

I have a "tune seeker" and it DID work but I think somewhere along the way the radio has expired..it worked when it was fitted...but now....
Not realy had time to fiddle...I have been too busy smiling as i was driving..
Still Imitation etc...G

Such a cool aerial. Love the way this aerial looks and especially follows the angle of window. As usual great detail and a very good no hole solution.

I am posting this pic as John may not have seen it and he is too humble to post award pics anyway. But also to test image hosting from Dropbox, now that Photbucket have started charging.

Image

So you put the photo in Dropbox, you create a share link. Then all you do is hit the mountain scene - insert image button in the editor on your post. Copy the link in between the [img], but the last step is to change the start of the URL link from https://www.dropbox.com to https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com the remaining part of the link stays the same.

I've just re-read this restoration thread from the beginning. Excellent in every way :)
