Did some work on the overhead vent system
so got all the bits together, I sand blasted and painted all the metal parts, fitted new rubber seal to the air control flap using pop rivets

Image

glued new rubber seals on the air direction flaps

not able to find the correct grommets, I cut short sections of rubber pipe as a substitute

Ok Decided to make the day table over the xmas break.

started with a two pieces of 4mm marine ply cut and shaped to the table size.

I then made a frame with rounded corners and blocks to accept hinge/leg screws.

Image

the shaped top was laminated with a spotty formica and the whole lot glued together.
I then edged it with oak which proved a problem on the curved corners

I made a leg from solid oak (guessed the shape from pics)

Image

I made a bracket to attach to the long side.

table catches and hinge, still looking for a friction stay for the leg.

Table in situ

Oh and Ive got some seat cushions :-)

Aloha John,
Looking really good. That table is very impressive, just like everything else you've done
Did you get the catches and the brackets on the bit of wood on the long side from that caravan supplies place?
Can't wait to see this on the road buddy.

Hi Lee. No the catches are original ones, not from caravan supplies, who do sell a similar type, TE5 in this picture.
They do exactly the same job just slightly different

Today I made a couple of tapered legs.

Image

and fitted them to the table using folding brackets, the type that locks in the open and closed positions.

Thanks for the kind comment Ade

Yes nearly there, I am enjoying every bit of the rebuild, but it amazes me how long all the little bits take.

John,

The bit I am most looking forward to is..............

You pulling up in the bus, and enjoying it

Can't wait to see it now,

Phil. :D

P.s. Are you planning to have an awning rail on the bus ? (And if so how will you attach it ?)

You and me both Phil

as far as an awning rail is concerned, if I can find one, I will fit it as per Devon spec, probably bolt it through the roof with seam sealer under its length.
Or I might rig something up using the sunroof opening to hold the edge of the awning.

Are you going to have a magazine rack under the table ???

I'm not sure which years had that option ?????
