Cheers guys.

No pics today so I didn’t happen 🤪 but if you believe me now in stone chip after a delay as ran out. Gearbox in and springplates and torsion bars re indexed.
Next jobs wiring back through , bleed breaks , change handbrake cables then engine in 😎

Next up though a few days break as having a long weekend at our retreat in Cornwall so Tuesday before any cave time.

Laters..

Do enjoy our Cornish trips and with views like this who can complain.

Image

Image

Cafe culturing as shoulder is still recovering from torn rotator cuff. So could only long to be out surfing.

Image

So after our wee break cave time it was but at the unphoto genic stage as we’ve all seen pics of a gearbox and engine install.

Re new’d hand brake cables and shocks as these got bent with the failure. Re setting gears fought for a bit as gearbox seemed in a different position so couldn’t engage reverse. Yep that learnt it with a little fettle 😉

When the shinny bits go on your done, right. 😳 As shinny always gets you home sos out came the polish

Image

Booom looks no different other than a few patches lighter.

Image

Test drive and the creaking has gone plus scraping the exhaust on my drive. Poor old trix has been disabled 5 months but once again living the dream, man I’ve missed just pointless cruising just because I could. Just an engine service to go then set for another season.
Have a wedding in a few weeks so paint repairs will have to wait this season, good excuse for cave next winter.

And relax

Been dodging the salty roads and won a beauty stealing a sunny afternoon by the beach roll on summer

Image

Few little tweaks to gearbox adjustment and spring plates as things have bedded in but now set for season.

Finally got my 15’s blasted

Image

Into etch primer

Image

And into the drying booth

Image

Unfortunately the snow & cold has stopped play or is it getting soft, either way when warmer or above 2 deg will hopefully get in high build and top coat later this week.

Laters.

Been a while lived the dream & worn the woes.

Vf

Local shows

Organised an event in Cornwall :? Yep 2 days prior gearbox starts winning sounding like diff bearings oh joy. Took the gamble taking it easy as couldn’t pull out as only I knew the route lol..
Gamble didn’t pay as 3/4’s of the way down crunching noises started in 1st & 2nd but limped to camp site. Plan was 3 days relaxing, no chance luckily finding a 1300 box drum to drum locally borrowing site owners truck. All turned over, went in gear so again took the gamble to be able to use my vehicle for duration of event.

Note to self don’t gamble anymore..

Went from this on day 2 of my holiday all out in campsite workshop..

Image

Swapped it all over losing 10 hours of my life with several trips out getting oil etc

Que drum roll turned key and wow that doesn’t sound right. Input shaft bearing gone, only showed when spinning faster ie tick over. :bom:  :P when you feel low there is a lower point.

Original gearbox she’d 4+ teeth on diff pinion so now had two duff gearboxes

This was day 2 still got another 6 to go ahhhhhhh

& they all lived happily ever after the end lol..

To be continued as photo buckets decided to not play anymore today.

Ps new gearbox due 20th June so no pressure for classic leman in July 8O

Oh dear.. I feel for you.. I found my gearbox problems on build up..
Bus already had a later no compression Mexican engine transplant mounted to an earlier gear box.. did sound ok when driven onto transporter in Scotland..and off again in Kenilworth before bare metal resto.
5 years later on examination wrong forks fitted no support to clutch release bearing. All swapped out and then the rumble in the jungle started..Otherwise changed n drove OK but foot on clutch sounded like out of balence tumble drier..
I did ALARP risk analysis bought an overnight parts new benco freeway flyer rather than wait n pay Bears to strip examine and rebuild the otherwise theoreticaly good box. Still have as a spare for a rebuild..
All good in the end..
