Engine bay caught my eye before I'd even noticed the 3 stories above it. Fantastic job.

Hi yes its original to the bus , had issues before VF with carb and petrol pump so will need to sort , then replace blue coil and make wiring a little neater.

Done a few more miles and noticed icing on the carb manifold so pre heat pipe needs attention- found another manifold and you guessed it also BLOCKED so let the cleaning begin - I didn't want to drill pipes and reweld so I used the old style method "elbow grease"

Still loafs more jobs todo !!!

For some mad reason my mirror arm was seized it would not budge so I had a go at hitting it with a big hammer , this did nothing only made feel a bit in nappy dept with fresh paint !! So drastic measures was needed!!! Couldn't use heat so I enlisted help, years of knowledge would get this job done!!!!!!

The mirror arm was chopped off near to the hinge and still hammering was tried but it wasn't budging - so a slot was cut in to see if a little rotation was gonna move it - NO WAY.

A puller extraction system was devised like so and plenty of lube was used

There ain't no 5 min job and with the best paint so close extra care was taken

A helpful 8mm bolt was used as the drift

Image

It went ' like a bit of Egg' *popped out *

So the new arms were measured with a micrometer at 8.2 and the 8mm drill we reemed with just cleaned the old dirt out so I went to my dads drill bit box and went hunting- hey presto a
21/64 drill bit ( imperial ??) this was just perfect

Image

Afterwards the grease/lubricant groove was cleaned and the arm was fitted and freely moves how it should with the door - mission accomplished :)

Pic of mirror arm fitted???

What lube did you use? The one you use with Bondy on a Saturday night at the blue oyster bar?.

I must say I'm bored of this thread so can we just let it die a death now like Bondys 15 window thread.

That is all!!
