Richierich's 65.....FOR SALE!!!!!

Post by richierich37 » Sun Jul 13, 2008 1:46 pm

howdy all,

i'm richie live in glasgow and have been a member of the club for a while but new to the forum.

had my bus a couple of years and in the last 3 months started to change it.

most of the changes were inspired by the buses that belong to the SBS 8) .

all the mods were and are being done at t2d.

here a few photos of my bus :

unfortuantly the new 1500 recon box only lasted a couple of months so my bus is back in getting an uprated box fitted in time for bugjam.

i have been enjoying your site and forum and look forward to chatting and meeting with fellow ssvc members,

chill richie

wee update guys!

everything has been super smooth since getting the last work done, engine, box, brakes and suspension are all sorted! :D

got a crazy idea into my head and took action yeasterday....................................

now you see it......

Image

Image

now you don't......

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

after removing it i thought what the hell have i done! ...............................

all the metal work is in great condition (except bulkhead :( ) with only one small area on the floor showing signs of rust! 8)

i'm going to treat the whole area to some chite to reduce the noise from my new python zorst (extreme noise!!!!).

i'm also thinking of treating it to a bottom half resto, new paint etc!..........................just wait n see!

lastly i will build a new light weight interior with r/r bed but thats a long way away..........................

just going to enjoy the last few weeks of summer with no weight in the back!

no weight, big bus power makes me smile! :D :D :D

i decided last week that it was time to take ma beast of our wondeful roads for a winter restoration.

it will be getting restored at the vwbuslane which is a new company in glasgow covering all vw needs!!!!! ;)

the boys there are letting me tackle this with them as i want to play a part in the work.

i dropped ma bus off and got straight to work, windows out and a few items stripped...........................

managed to sneek away from the wife for 2 shifts and get some more graft on the bus!

first thing was to make sure it would fit on the bus jig/roller thing with the narrowed front end..........................

pretty scary hooking it up!

Image

Image

Image

now i drained all the oil and fuel from the engine so i could start the cutting and grinding

Image

we thought it would be best to weld in the bulkhead to give my bus some mid support!

it was measure twice cut once for that perfect fit!!!!

Image

Image

Image

clamped in place........

Image

welded in place...........

Image

next job was to determine how bad the lower body was under the paint..........

Image

Image

Image

Image

pleasently surprised till i got to the long sill section, twas full of filler and a poor repair.....................

i made a decision to replace all outriggers and top hat sections so i cut the floor away to allow easier access to cut them out!

front.............

Image

Image

rear.............

Image

Image

lastly i did a walk round making a shopping list of all chassis/floor panels/sections required to make my lower area solid!

2 rear arch closing panels
13.5" outer sill with match inner sill and stregthener
4 outriggers
outer cab step with bumper mounting bracket
2 lengths of boxed top hat section
2 inner front tub repairs
flooring section

all that for just under £300

no more work till next year, hope you all have a ball!!!!! 8)
