My friend Tony came over today, he is a VW trained mechanic and learnt on beetles and split buses. He has his own business and this morning I set up his new laptop to read and diagnose car faults. In return he worked on the SC. After about an hour he had the pick up running and idling – HOORAH!
I had fitted a 009 , new 6v coil and plugs, Tony fitted new points and condenser, reset the timing, stripped the carb and we replaced the missing bits with donor parts from another. The 6v system struggled to turnover over so we boosted it with a 12v jump and she fired and idled – SUPERB!
I now need to rebuild the carb and fit a new diaphragm and sort out the wiring problems and she will be ready for an MOT test.

Fitted both front screens today with the rubbers we got from BFY whilst out at the OCTO Show, big thanks to Ron Richman for supplying the missing screen. Also drove the pick up for the first time which was SUPERB! We couldn't stop grinning!!! The steering is amazing and this is down to Rusting Hulk and the reconditioned king pins he made. I have a set on order for the Westy ;- )

The gear selection is vague but this does not seem to be down to the box which is good news. I fixed the hand brake today as this didnt work initially. Also did a temp repair on the carb, using an elastic band to return the accelerator lever to idle, will be copying the '67 return spring which is mounted under the accelerator pedal. Once this is done it will be time to fit the new loom supplied by Ron Richman. Watch this space and bigbulli for 'how to rewire your bus', a step by step guide.....

Damn you've come along way. How's the 54 doing, I don't see too many updates on bigbulli......
Expect some from me soon, as soon as they do the pool at my house, it's full steam on the crew cab.
Speak soon.
work starts on the 54 when we finish the SC, hopefully next couple months, I dont get much free time due to spending all my time with my two boys which is cool!
Nope not much update on BB, well there is but you cant see them yet 'cos I havent put a link to the page, watch this space.....
Look forward to update on the DC, found any interesting buses recently?
Rich

Rewiring has started, got the loom in and fitted. Need to make up a few bits for under the dash. Have NOS rear tail light houses and lenses, just need to get the rubbers to fit them!

Latest picture of the SC, almost ready for MOT, it's in a queue, Westy first then the SC, also doing small jobs on the BD! Note NOS rear lenses, these are covering the NOS light housings. It's amazing what NOS parts you can still find at good prices, I also got the SC an NOS gear knob, indicator switch and headlight switch!

Went upto Bristol to finish the 12v on the SC, fitted new regulator, relay bulbs etc, already fitted new generator, coil, carb thing etc. Put the engine back in, all runs sweet, even the fuel guage works!!!
