I see you spot/plug welded the tops of the outriggers to the top hat section and seam welded the outrigger to the chassis rail.

I've got to do this on the BD, always good to see other people doing it, to get info/ideas :D

Cheers

Thanks Gents,

Yep I plug welded them as you described and then seam welded to the chassis. Just love the penetration  you get when welding to the chassis. Dad actually has a spot welder but we don't use it much it only has one set of tips and they dont fit in everywhere.

We have done a lot more work, completing the inner front chassis, fitted front and middle outriggers and inner sill, have just bought an NOS bay pick up treasure chest outer sill which looks a good fit. I forgot my camera so no pics but am working on it tomorrow so some should follow soon.

Just bought a *MINT* near new 500mm CE rack for the SC from ebay 8)

Couple pictures of the work we did two weeks ago. Dad had finished off the front centre chassis, just gotta clean the welds and paint. I welded in the front and middle outriggers and inner sill in.

Today we spot welded the NOS VW Brazil bay pick up outer sill, it is a very good fit with the correct profile. We also fitted the short Schofield panel, still a bit of welding to do around the rear main chassis and the driver side cab floor.

Top work Rich, keep us updated. When are you hoping to have him done by? Or is it done when it's done?

Thanks Ben!

I'm hoping to get it on the road next year for BVF. Plan is to finish welding and then shoot the underneath before Christmas, do the brakes in the new year and then get the engine running. I think the driverside king pins are shafted so I will need to swap these out.

This will depend how much time I get now we have two little fella's

Then back on to the BD, gotta get this done

Unfortunately not my scooters, they belong to Joe, the guy I got the hoops from. I am on the look out for a mid 60's Series 3 125 LI (Lambretta)....

Dad finished the drivers side cab floor, then painted with a seam sealer, just needs repainting....

I used a high temperture black satin metal protection paint (rattle can), it was made by Plasticoat or something like that I used smoothrite (rattle can) on the westy.

Hope this helps

Rear brakes fitted, will clean underneath rear of pick up when we need to remove engine and g/box.

Also fitted new flexi hoses on front and new tie rod ends. Cleaned brake pipes with emery cloth and painted with copper grease.
