Top work Mark, pretty sure Lloyd ran his Dogback air beam directly from a compressor to avoid having to install a tank.

A few updates to post this morning as threads behind on where I'am now

So here we go

We all know the rear fllor was a mess and needed some propper time putting into it to make it good again

Here's a little flash back for you
1.jpg
3.jpg

Yep lots to do there .... it was always going to be the best way ....REMOVING IT for Bert

4.5 .jpg

My thinking around removing it was that it
1) be easier to do out side of the shell
2) I didnt have to roll around on the floor
3) i could pop the floor onto the pan and use it as a jig to line up the rear mounting points the go under the rear seat area

5.jpg
6.jpg

and the plan worked out a treat .... super happy with how it all looks now and so I popped it into a thin coat of primer and sealed it .... I will just quickly key this area up when I finish the rear end off and then pop it all into high biuld primer and then move onto the front end ......

Second update on its way in a few mins
.
ps the photo below is obviusly in the wrong place but i can even see it on my post update page .. so I cant remove it sorry x

Then it was time to repair the lower rear wings

They were rotten and also by cutting that area out it allowed me access to welding all the shell onto the heater channels and it would ALL be hidden welding thus making it a really neat job and also no cleaning up of the welds so leaving the welds as they are ... super strong

Any way onto the job in hand

Had to pop all the panel back on to check all wholes line up with the wings so when i come around to bolting it all together after his painted I'll have minimal problems

1.jpg

So then onto the fitting of the side lower panel

2.jpg

All pinned on in place to check everything ok and I'm happy with the fit

3.jpg
4.jpg
5.jpg

So thats all good after a little fettering

time to weld it all in and onto the next task .... The repair needed to the top of the rear wing

This area here

Screenshot 2019-02-24 at 09.33.46.png

and how it looked after blasting

Next update cover the repairs in this area

Over and out peeps

Here we go again

so I could just do this and say here it is all done and show you nothing and take the easy root

1.jpg
2.jpg

and do the old before and after shot

3.jpg

But that would be boring and help no one ..... so lets see how i did it hu

so my first job was to make a template up of the panel that was needed ....

So out comes the aper and sizzors ( spelt wrong i know )

1.jpg
2.jpg

I then made sure i checked out the hight the panel would have been ... I could see that there was a few bits left of the oringinal panel thus giving me the hight of the panel needed to be made

3.jpg

and that check out the fitting of it

4.jpg

Al looking good so far .... so happy with that I cut the metal out that i was going to use

5.jpg
6.jpg
7.jpg

A few more checks and i'd be cutting out the rusty old bits on Bert and prep for fitting newly made panel

NOTE .... the swage line i'd also put into the newly made panel ..... lines up nice with the swage on the rear wing     ssswwweeeeeeetttt

8.jpg
9.jpg
10.jpg

Happy with that

Dam ... its update spoilt time hu peepes

you Pervs are loving it ..... freaks !!!! hehehehe ... enjoy as here we go again

so I noticed that there was a fould on the original panel as arrowed below .... anyone noticed me arrow skills have improved sinse Gerrys resto

1.jpg

so I had to make the panel the same or it would not be correct to have both sides differant .... I know they will never been seen but at least I know its right

so a cut a thin bit of metal and shaped it to the arch of the panel and then welded them togeth

give is all a clean up and hey presto .. panel sorted

2.jpg
3.jpg
4.jpg
5.jpg

so next step was to repair some bits on the inside of the panel as they had rusted though ... this area is where the wood for the hood sites and bolts down on so it needs to be good and strong .... so i cut and the rust and made a new little panel and welded that sucker in ....Job done

1.jpg
2.jpg
3.jpg

Happy with that it was time to weld in the outer repair bit I already made

wow

here we go again

So time to weld the peace in a made

1.jpg
2.jpg

Then I decided to have a little go at lead loading

Never done it before 8O 8O 8O 8O 8O 8O

52080023_10216910821275651_4700982674888589312_n.jpg

was not too bad to do ... My skill level with this as low so I couldnt finish in it but it was fun to try and have a go

the trick is dont heat it up too much or you will loose it all on the floor .... watched a few you tub vid's before trying it

clean clean clean the panel first

the brush solder on to panel

heat up solder and wipe of with a non fluffy cloth

the solder turns a silver shinny colour

then heat up lead stick and panel all at the same time and start dabbing panel with lead leaving behind lead mountings on the panel .... the get your wooden paddle out and heat up lead and push it around where needed .. just like body filler really
it also sands down well and you can also rub it with sanding down paper just like filler

result was good and then I finished off with a scim of body filler

Happy with the out come

and then I finished off the repairs to the rear wing

52332981_10216911017640560_9029747824455057408_n.jpg

ALL DONE ON ONE SIDE AND NOW ONTO THE REAR PARCEL SHELF AREA

Getting there slowly but surely
