59 11 window splitscreen project

Post by Toms59splitty »

Hi everyone my names Tom living in UK Stourbridge area just brought my first splitscreen project allways dreamed and wanted one and now I own a 59 11 window :D it will be my first time stripping one and working on one I have allways done classic minis and still own a couple. I am mechanically minded love messing but I have no clue what I am doing on this I was the same with the minis at the start now I can strip and rebuild one so I may have lots of questions on help with stripping and what's the best methods and ways of doing jobs. It's going to be a rat look lowered and use the engine that's in until I can upgrade to a bigger engine later on it needs some welding doing and engine has not been heard running so I will need to get this out and rebuild it. Also going to use it for trips and camping so will need to design fit a interior. I will upload some pictures asap it is in the first sale section I noticed. Thanks Tom

Good luck with the project, many fun hours ahead. I've always used Schofields or klassic fab. Both will have what you need

Few split owners round there - at least three in Kinver including me occasionally.

There's a monthly meet through the summer at the old Whittington Inn with a bunch of minis and VW buses too which a few of us on here get to when we can

Hi this afternoon I pulled engine out and got the tank out the metal work is quite solid but has a lot of surface rust all over. The engine seems to be seized. But I need to take the belt of to retry again. I might upgrade to anouther engine but not sure yet. I'm going to strip it right down get all the welding done not sure weather to repaint it or keep as is will decide when I get there. Under the petrol tank there was a lot of nuts have no idea if monkeys been in there or the last owner just loved them. Here is some pictures thanks Tom

Great little bus.
Be lovely when it's done.
If you're a 'mini' man.
Check out "Project Binky" on YouTube.
As for your bus. Once you get stuck in to it. And have a load of repair/replacement panels, you'll fly it.
Schofields are my recommended supplier of choice.
All The best and I look forward to watching your progress..
