Looks like you're also missing the rubber stop for the clutch pedal https://www.customandcommercial.com/vw- ... 55-79_186/

Easy to fit in a warm garage, might be worth warming it indoors first to get the rubber plug through the hole without it tearing.

:D
I did not buy one and have had an issue if you 'stand on' the clutch pedal it did stick down a couple of times...
Alarming the first time it did it...but easy to pull it back up with foot or hand..
Not done it recently.
I was convinced it was a cab belly pan issue..
LoL
Clutch release spring lever arm thingy (at the gearbox end) should pull the clutch cable back and therefore pull the clutch pedal back up. Could be you had a Bowden tube issue which self corrected ?

Get me - knew 0.000% about buses when I bought mine and here I am giving advice 8O

Man cave is just too cold today, it's even snowing outside so I did a bit of cleaning and painting on the gear shift rod in the warm plus added a new bush. That's it for today.

Headlights in and wired up but the rubber seal that goes round the bowl is way to thick and pushes the headlight out of shape so I've left them out until I find a better solution.

All gear rods connected up and a short shift plate added to the gear stick, it seems all gears are there but time will tell.

I sanded the rubbers down using a bit of sandpaper on a mallett. Took ages but I got them in....

6v armature replaced for a 12v one on the wiper motor, looks in good condition too.

One of the hardest jobs so far, fitting the headliner, still a lot of creases from the folding of the material in it. Not to sure how to get these out but I'll have a chat with a trimmer and see what he recommends.

Switches and gauges in and finished wiring up.

And a better view of the windows...

That's it for now.

Always nice to switch on the lights and see it all light up after spending quite a while fitting terminals and pulling wires!

One of those moments

Single Garage Resto...

Post by oilyragg » Mon Apr 24, 2017 6:51 pm

The brakes were next on the list so cleaned up and painted the back plates and fitted new shoes

Image

Then on to making new brake pipes

Image

Image

Welded up the catch plate holes used a bit of ally to stop the weld penetrating to far into the frame stopping the catch plate from fitting (going to bond them in) and repaired the door tops.

Image

Stated repairing the under dash tray, the wife won't be happy as she was using it as a colander.

Image

Rubbed down and repaired the bumpers and then it all went into primer
