1963 SO34 Westy

Post by 65DEVY »

This bus came to NZ about 10 years ago after spending most of it's life in a museum at a large VW salvage yard in Oklahoma. It's got just 29,000 miles on the clock, and OG paint. The only thing I've done is upholstered the seats, restored the roof rack and some minor paint touch ups. It came with both awnings, just missing the chair and crappa which i'm on the hunt for (so if you've got a couple kicking about in the garage i'll grab one thanks :) )

Excellent. Love the swing away can opener ( I assume that's what I'm seeing there).

That's right, it's got "CAN - O - MAT" written on it, pretty state-of-the-art back then 8-)

It seems to be quite popular as well: (from Chowhound)

There is a whole line of O-Mat products, made by Rival. Some of them are:
Jar-O-Mat: a wall mounted jar opener
Juice-O-Mat: for juicing
Shred-O-Mat: for grating
Ice-O-Mat: for crushing ice
Grind-O-Mat: for grinding meat

and possibly others, but that is all I can think of off the top of my head. The only two I have and use are the Jar-O-Mat and the Can-O-Mat.

Got the very hard to find (and expensive) Westy crappa a while back, it's the 2 bucket with lid model.

(And i'm trying out a new photo host at the same time) vgy.me - no login or sign up required, seems to work ok....

Tongue out and drooling (more for the van than the crapper, although its a nice piece of the jigsaw).
Dec 62 RHD Tintop Caravette MGR / PW (1 P/O) restoration here:

It may only be held on by 4 bolts; but one of them is a pain in the @ss to get to!
