Here are some for you - admittedly only two stipe, but a bargain none the less! (I think they run at about £100 per stripe)

Devonette Cooker search..
Will post pictures in here!

To remind you.. mine is a 1962 Devonette..

October 1961 advert picture of kombi Devonette

Scan of Factory photograph care of David Eccles

So I knew I was looking for a simple lightweight low level two burner cooker.

I also knew they were fitted in a shrouded configuration to later Devon Spaceway Walk Through and Torvette Standard models but in a frame with a shroud.. sat on tray rivetted to a large alloy plate either rivetted to the back of the passenger seat or on the rear VW interior short panel.

Cooker looked like this

Behind the passenger seat like this

On the rear interior panel like this..

I knew they were also fitted to motent trailer tents and tried to buy one without success.

Image

I searched and searched and in two weeks found a Torvette cooker with frame and shroud.

So on the basis of....

Image

I bought it...

Image

Image

In a very well used condition and yet again missing plate rack..
Steve Hack very kindly collected for me..

Then I found a bare cooker in a bag marked "week end" which I take to be the marketing name..
Slightly different no black burner surrounds.
This one explained to me the design principle..
It was designed to be able to be stripped down and the gas control swans neck clips in a hook under the top.
It all then fits in the bag to pack away and carry about.
I have cleaned and restitched the bag,

Image

So both are in my Cooker Hospital for clean re-rivet and repair..

Devonette Cooker...

I wanted to use my new found cooker in a copy of the Devonette case..

I enquired whether Kevin Hicks made alloy shrouds to order but unfortunately not.. his shields are designed for a specific range and set sizes of cookers...

However I did then look at my Devonette brochure and wondered if I could get one made with steel shroud.. but on reflection the all steel cases I have weigh a ton..
I decided to buy some fittings from Kevin Hicks anyway for my Devonette..

I noticed that Kevin Jackson was working on a WT swing out cupboard and that he had just made a very neat and good lining for it from hammered effect alloy sheet.

I asked if Kevin Jackson could make a case to suit the cooker from the pictures and took the disassembled base of the case and the first cooker I bought over to show him. I took all my fittings.. for him to use if needed but he has a plentiful supply..
I need not have worried!

angled leg plates for the base

Cheyney suitcase catches

tenax fasteners..

I left these with Kevin... and this is what he did..

From the stripped base

Formed up the base

Put in holes for the gas inlet on both sides

Made a lid and attached shield sides

Attached the Cheyney case catches..

So Kevin Jackson is a very skilled guy.. He has made a great job of this case and shield for me!
He will be using these hand made simple shields with his interiors..
If you want anything making I would ask Kevin..
He is a nice guy too!

I have suggested that he consider making the swing out cooker and supplying them with a fitted cooker and simple lid and shields.
There must those out there that would love such a unit to combine with the interior they have..

Some great fabrication work, love the seatbelt mounts. What are the chances of getting a step made for sale?

I have a Devon step on "Catherine" my 1965 65MY Caravette...in seized condition.
I bought a seized step from the estate of Gordon Patterson.
I took this to my metal deruster and it sat in the tank for a month to no avail.
Matt n Dave heated and cooled and tried a hydraulic ram to break the tube from the grip of the pipe without success.
So they measured and ordered some cut lengths of tube pipe strip n sheet.
They then slit open the tube/pipe to discover the spring mechanism.
I ordered springs of the correct gauge and lengths from eBay.
Darren Yip supplied some more help with the exterior spring solution..
I had metal for two..but want a third making so I will ask and work out costs.
Beware though..
The step nearly broke Dave's fingers with a visit to hospital for x-ray and it has bashed my shin once!
I obtained a pair of stainless steel loop over catches (samples) with a pin whixh goes through a hole in pipe n tube and fitted one to the finished one on Peebles to prevent it coming out whilst in motion..
Ben Hur I am not..

So Progress Progress
Thank goodness I am not a politician!
Or maybe I am ..
I learned two very important lessons in life......
My Father was a true Scotsman....not a Yorkshire man..
He taught me..When I went to Real life drawing lessons..

You can look but DO NOT TOUCH!
and
If it is damp and not yours DO NOT TOUCH....
ImageImageImageImageImageImageImage

So onwards and upwards and not downwards and outwards..
I am a PROJECT MANAGER by trade...so I keep updating my requirements...

Missing LOST piece of door frame fabricated n fitted

Correct rear hatch skin fitted and missing inner frame pieces fabricated...
