Won't start

Post by BusBug&KG »

Ok
Bus been standing for nearly two years,in barn, turns over, won't fire, tried fuel in carb, fresh battery, fired up moved out of barn.
Won't start turns but won't fire.
Must be old fuel.
Gonna drain tank in morning, remove and clean plugs, fit new battery & give her a fresh drink of fuel.
MUST WORK EH!!
Or am I missing something??

At least clean the points - they will be pretty corroded on the surface.
Before you get it running - change the oil! Old oil can have loads of sludgy bacteria in it that play havoc with bearings.

I would flush the system of the old fuel as you say.

I had a generator that stood for 12 months and had to do exactly that.

Modern unleaded doesn't seem to last that long.

Got it going,it was the auto choke was sticking!
Took it for MOT today Failed, one front wheel bearing noisey & the usual head lights not to right pattern.
Not bad i suppose as been tucked up in my barn for over two years, say goodby to the velvet green for a while (needs some work) out comes the shiney wedding bus 1600 on reduction boxes, standard height, bog standard bus, except the colour.
YAWN,YAWN,YAWN.
How long will it be before it gets hit with the lowering stick??
