On top of Bulkhead panel....

Post by 63 Split »

Anyone know where I can get the rounded finisher rail on top of the division on the bulkhead. The top part....The Devon wardrobe that sits on it has a curve shape cut out, but the van has like a stepped metal work. Apparently there is a panel that fits on it?

Does anyone make them, or have one for sale?

Cheers

Don't quote me on this but I've a sneaky feeling that there are 2 types of bulkhead tops, one square and one curved.

I may be wrong but seem to recall my UK RHD having a curved top on its bulk head but my US split is square.

I was right. My old RHD had a curved top on the bulkhead

Thanks Jason

But looking the photos below there looks to be a panel fitted. 21F on here thinks its a panel...

I may be totally wrong and have the cut the wardrobe to the shape bulkhead I have (its a replica so no shouting at me).

It is a panel, pretty easy to remove. Very rarely up for sale though

Anyone have some photos of one removed, to see if I can make up a copy of it?

:?:
Are you talking about the bulkhead cap or the panel in the wardrobe?

There is a curved metal top cap to the bulkhead which finishes the side headliners and was covered in the vinyl trim.

The vinyl is missing from these but you can see the remnants.

There are some for sale in the USA if this is what you need???
search 'bulkhead cap'

Behind the Devon wardrobe, rivited to the bulkhead was a bit of ply 'roughly' cut to the spare wheel well pressing. It was only a bit of something like 3/8". Not really sure if it serves any purpose to be honest.

It may only be held on by 4 bolts; but one of them is a pain in the @ss to get to!

It is a panel but as paul says it's bloody hard to find one. My old Pitt had one...

Yes Bulkhead Cap.....it is a just an added pressing! Not screwed on...
It is just clipped over the division square edge and is easy to fit but darned hard to unclip...I'm sure my 64 is bent now..
VW covered them with vinyl and the finisher inside the cupboard is 3/8ths ply rivetted to the division. The inside of the cupboard was then sprayed with white + blue flecked paint...as in my photos above...
It just gives a neat clean finish inside the wardrobe...
Someone on here will have a body being cut up and there will be one available...

Rippers has confirmed that he did find one!

I think these were an added finishing touch to microbuses.

Hi,
I have one that may be of use. Just finished a walk through conversion.
I'll take a photo and post it on here.

Just for reference here is the back panel from my Devon wardrobe – like I said, pretty crude cut-out.

The splintered hole in the bottom is where the gas pipe comes in from the under floor run.
[edit] I'm actually showing this panel upside down and the pipe exits at the top.

I am after one of these as well, how much do you want for it and are you able to post it to Cornwall?
