Twin Dellorto DRLA36 v twin Weber 34ICT carbs

Post by passion4 » Wed Jul 03, 2019 6:01 pm

Is there much to choose or differentiate between twin Dellorto DRLA36 v twin Weber 34ICT carbs on say a 1600/1641cc engine?

Is it worth the expense of upgrading to either from a stock 34pict3 carb?

Dell's all day long. Better carbs, better linkage, better fit etc etc.

IMHO stock carb is better on a stock engine / stock exhaust WITH the factory air filter / pre-heat etc etc.

Can' offer a comparison with dellortos but I have the 34icts.
With a crap empi exhaust and still running Vacuum Dizzy I got a modest increase in power but better fuel economy over stock, if set up correctly.

Just fitted a new stainless Sidewinder exhaust and a notable increase in power, yet to see what it does for economy.

The crossbar linkage is crap as Jim said previously, I'm looking at going for a bellcrank type.

You’ll get quite a big increase in performance with twin 36’s and a good header/exhaust but you’ll have to be careful about how much you put your foot down as it’s easy to over rev as you lose the self governing effect of stock carb/exhaust. Keep the Venturi to 28mm with 115 mains and 58 idle jets and it will produce good torque for a bus.
Packed a few belongings and headed out to Pirates Cove. In my buddy’s old grey Kombi we rolled until the gas got low.....
