Bus judders when pulling away
Hi like most I recently pulled my van out for the summer. last month when I went to Ninove I noticed when driving along the motorway about half throttle the bus would occasional judder only very briefly.
it progressively has got worst pulling away under load I now start kangarooing down the road in 2,3 or 4th. would this be a clutch issue or something else ?
the gearbox/clutch ir only a couple of years old with 2k miles done.
any advice appreciated
thanks
Aaron

Check the clutch cable adjustment / bowden tube is correctly installed / main clutch cable conduit hasn't broken free. Other than that I'd suspect oil contamination of the friction plate.

Thanks Jim I’ll take a look. If it’s oil contamination I’m guessing the engine needs to come out then

Yes, if oil or the conduit broken free, then it's an engine out job.
New seal(s) + new friction plate if oil.
Weld the conduit in position if broken free.

Thanks Jim
Bowden tune looks ok and has the right amount of bend
Conduct if this the tube the Bowden connects to which then runs under the belly pans then that looks ok 2
Clutch looking the likely culprit

Is the engine wet where it joins the gearbox?

That's often where the flywheel or gearbox seal leaks collect

Re: Bus judders when pulling away
Clutch is out. Didn’t see any oil contamination on the friction plate. Looks a cheap clutch and pretty rough looking seeing it was only put in before I bought the bus 3 years ago. I bought a new kit from Machine7.

Still not 100% think this solve the issue and it might be electrical. Fingers cross
Old clutch

Electrical? How so? that old clutch plate look oil soaked to me. Have you found the leak? No point putting in a new clutch if the crank oil seal is leaking.

Hi Aaron,
Did you get it fixed?
Also check gearbox mounts.

Just back from the Garage
Turned out the vacuum distributor was faulty... At least the bus got a good service
Valve tapper check
Weber ICT 34 rejected and cleaned
New ignition leads
Looking forward to getting to the AGM now !!
