Total,seal piston rings

Post by Breconbus » Fri Mar 01, 2019 3:09 pm

Hi has anyone installed total seal piston rings.
just bought a set for my stock 1600 twin port.
You get a town piece ring to go in the second groove. Bottom and top groove remain empty.
It takes a lot of belief to go with this?

Has anyone installed them, do they work?

Sorry typo above. You get one two piece ring per cylinder that slots into no 2 groove. That's it. No 1 and no 3 groove remain empty

You fit stock rings in the other slots. Thats what my turbo engine has.

Or buy a kit that has all the rings, but that's more race only.

Total seal rings seem a bit OTT for a stock 1600?

Thanks for the reply. In hind site I think your right. Read the blurb and it seamed a good option. Thing is when I asked for advice form the retailer they just send you links - don.t know what they are selling. The links show a guy popping in the 1 , 2 and 3 grooves but they insist I just need the no2 groove as supplied. glad I asked.

Cheers

As you said, people that sell that have never used them.

You do "only need" the one ring, of that type. So technically they're correct but a vague answer that could of been an expensive mistake.
