Hi,
I’ve come across a rather strange looking Oil Bath filter Part Nº 211 129 611 B and wondering if anyone knows what it’s from? I’ve googled it and some people saying its from an Aussie bus or maybe a Thing?

Looks like a cyclonic filter. An option for dusty conditions. Attaches to the right hand side of the engine bay, on the upright extending up from the the wheel well in front of the battery tray.

So the Aussie bus bit might be right? Is it country specific rather than year then?

I guess no reason you couldn’t fit it on a UK bus? Kind of funky looking filter! 8)

They were also an option for US buses. I have one that came from my New Mexico bus - it's dusty down there!
1966 Westy in Velvet Green - being restored
1967 Devon from Devon still in Devon
1967 Sundial from Idaho
1971 Westfalia from LA
1971 patina Delux from Montana now living in Germany
1972 Devon now owned by No 1 son!

i have one, it goes on the right hand side of the engine bay, but yours looks different at the top, like it fits on the left? (it could be the camera angle). There is also a bracket that bolts onto the side of the engine bay, which you have, so it is complete.

I have ran my bus with it and never had any issues, except for when you take it off and it falls over, leaking oil everywere...

I think it's correct for the right hand side. They did make a left hand one, but that was part of a dual-filter system that had a special carb elbow.

Loads on filters in this thread on the Samba, including pictures of the mounting hardware...
