Problems with aluminum pulley?

Post by Claushema » Wed Jun 10, 2015 3:16 pm

Thinking about getting a aluminum pulley with etched timing marks but have heard some not great things about aftermarket ones causing damage to the case. Had never heard this before but now that I have I start to worry.

Any thoughts?

Something along these lines:

Thanks,

Have not heard of any damage to cases, have used similar in pretty much all my cars over the years, quality has gone downhill a bit, seen some with the marking slightly off! not great when trying to time a car, I have a Scat one fitted at the moment and it is great, really tight fit but spot on. Try Ritchie Webb here if you are after one as they do all the Scat stuff... http://www.rjvolksperformance.com/

Used them a little while ago for some copper gaskets and the service was spot on :)

Thanks for that. Should I assume that this one is an EMPI?

Some Ali crank pulleys cause oil leaks as they aren't a great fit, why do you want an Ali pulley? I'd keep the stock one of its a stock motor.

Good question. I had the idea that finding the 28-32 mark would be easier but then again marking it with a protractor seems easy as well. Never mind.
