Getting my fleetline registered

Post by gypsy »

Hi
I have a 1975 fleetline micro bus that I need to get registered.
Ive contacted the museum at Wolfsburg and they can't help with the age certification. I was told there was a letter I could get from the SSVC that the DVLC would take. Are there any other options ?
The chassis number is 2053 002 651

Thanks in advance !

Not sure what the club can offer apart from a valuation?

Have you tried emailing VW UK to see if they can help?

Thats what I have. Can any one make sense of it ? Its the bottom number on the top picture that tells the age, I think its the 5 which denotes its a 75. Why they just cant put year of manafacture on the thing in the first place !
Ive been told by a few people that the SSVC have waved some magic fairy dust over these issues and it all went away !

I believe all SA built fleetlines were built during 1975 only. The easiest dating evidence will be the original registration document. I don't believe VW UK or VW Germany will have any record of the build date.

There lies the rub thats all I got. Nothing else ! I have a picture of the bus before restoration, but you can't really trust that as i never actually saw the bus before.

I imported mine last September, if you read all the stuff online they were 75 to march 76, mine is a 76 according to the paperwork & import docs etc, I have gone into restoration mode so have yet to register but it should be an N or a P I guess.
I have thought of contacting VW Sa as that is where they were assembled or finished off from the boatload of leftovers from Brazil!!!

The vwocgb should be able to give you a dating letter from the chassis number, but they won't be able to give you a day or month, just a confirmation letter to say it was built in 1975.I'm going through it all just now,got nova docs retrospectively as it had no paperwork at all.Now the lot is away to dvla to see how many times they send it back before registering it.You are right about the year, and the 3 would denote a kombi. The last 3 numbers are just squential production numbers. The 234B lets you know it's a RHD kombi Brazillian.Hope this helps.

So the plot thickens !

I need to join the VWOCGB first, then get in touch with this guy ! and then follow the instructions on his website. He seems to know alll about the issues and had done alot of Fleetlines so hopefully this is getting the ball rolling.
