OG paint 62 Riviera - Slammed with nice Patina - *new price*

Post by Scoops » Wed Jun 12, 2013 10:17 am

As with all of these ads, its been a difficult decision, but its time to move on.

1962 Riviera Conversion - imported from Cali in 2008 - lots of work has gone into this over that period, and i'll try to get it all down for you.

OG paint with the exception of the offside sill (which was replaced along with the outside section of the floor.)
For those that are unfamiliar with Riviera conversions it has a long picture window in the nearside with ends that slide open (with built in fly mesh)
The windows on the cargo doors have the same sliding operation and mesh. This is a great idea as it means you can sleep in the summer with the windows open fopr ventiliation, but not get bugged by creepy crawlies....

Running Gear

Creative Engineering Weedeater Narrowed & Adjustable Beam
Dropped spindles
CSP Disc Brakes (Porsche 5x130)
CSP Dual Circuit Conversion - all new brake lines & Unions
Steering Box Lift - very nice Bus Barn Conversion incl a box rebuild
Straight Axle Conversion with 1500 Bug Tranny - beetle rear drums (rebuilt)
Adjustable rear springplates
Original 6x15 Porsche Fuchs all round - 195/65 tyres on rear 165/50 tyres on front
Gene Berg Shifter

Engine

Newly fitted 1776 Single Port motor with dual 34 carbs (Stock 69mm crank and internals - all new Parts)
Vintage Speed full Stainless Steel Exhaust (for lowered buses)
*currently running in the motor and getting the carbs rejetted and set up*

Other bits

Largely original Riviera interior with westy buddy seat
Propex Heater installed (incl gas bottle) - toasty warm
3/4 rock and Roll Bed
Front & Rear Lap Belts
Alpine Head unit with ipod doc in Ashtray - 2 speakers in cab doors - 2x 6x9 speakers in buddy seat - Blaupunkt powered subwoofer mounted in spare wheel bin behind seat. (sounds Sweet)
OG Safari windows painted satin black (and yes they do leak)
split charge relay system with leisure battery - Heater & Stereo run from Leisure Battery
Humped front bench seat - covered with Mexican blanket.
Tiki Head Horn Push
Nice Patina
Taxed til 31/8 - Mot'd till Sept

The cab floors will need a little work at some point, and the passenger cab door has dropped a little, but other than that its a sweet ride ready for a new owner....

How much for all this lovliness I hear you ask?.........

Well pricing of splits is always subjective, so based on what i've seen in the current market and to follow forum rules i'm asking £16,500 which i think is priced to sell but i'll let the market price it - Happy to discuss price with or without engine.

I'll also chuck in a khyam Quick Erect Motor Dome awning with internal sleeping compartment, JK sun canopy and a brand new Calor two ring gas hob at the asking price.

Happy to answer any questions

Well over a thousand views! A lot of interest (along with some chancers  ) but it would appear that the price is a bit toppy and may be putting people off?.........

So I have decided to revise the price to £16,500

Please no more lowballers or picture collectors. "No i won't take 10 grand for it, regardless of the fact that you have it in cash in your pocket right now"

This is an unrestored 50 year old West Coast Bus, its not perfect, but its not a poobox either. (apologies for the language mods  )There aint no fake Patina here......

I have a 1600 twinport motor built up for my Ghia, so would be willing to discuss deals with that fitted instead of the 1776......

Just had an email from a guy in the US who used to own the bus, that has added a nice bit of history.

He bought it in the early 90's in Oregon (there are old Beaverton stickers in the bus). Did some work on it (put the bulkhead back in) then drove it down to New Mexico.

Him and a friend then embarked on a 'roadtrip' down the length of Mexico to the border with Belize and back!

I love it when you get to hear history like that....

Why do people engage with you, ask lots of questions, get lots of pictures......then disappear off the face of the earth without another word?!
