63 15 Window Deluxe Camper SOLD.

Post by Graham »

SOLD

63 model, built Oct 62, exported to California. I imported it from Walnut Creek, California in 2004 as a rolling bus with no engine.
Body was all original panels and only required a couple of small repairs to the inner and outer sill under the side loading doors and a few pin holes welding up in the passenger front floor (all this work took approx 5 hours) before prepping for paint.
I restored it between Oct 05 and June 06. I built the interior cabinets over winter 06.

The bus has won - Bustypes best custom interior 2007
SSVC resto of the year at the AGM 07
SSVC best paint 07
Camper Jam best custom split 08
Bustypes top 3 split 09
Bustypes best of show split 10

The bus was featured on the front cover of Camper & Commercial mag with a write up inside in may 07
It is also featured in Inspirational Interiors book by David Eccles.

It has taken us to - 60 years of the transporter in Hannover oct 07
Bulli treffen Kals Austria July 08
Hessish Oldendorf June 09
Bulli Treffen Kals Austria 10
and many shows in the UK.
Over this winter I have replaced the lower outer front valance and bottom 75mm of the front panel as it had started to pin hole causing the paint to bubble up (I have kept the old metal to show how good it still is)

SPEC-
Suspension
Front- Boxwagen narrowed lowered ball joint beam.
Rear- Boxwagen adjustable IRS kit.

Brakes
Front- Porsche hubs/discs and Porsche 993 big red 4 pot calipers.
Rear- Boxwagen disc kit Porsche pattern.
Porsche 996 brake servo

Steering - Creative Engineering rack kit.

Wheels- 16inch Porsche cup ones

Engine-
2.6 litre type 4 with approx 130 BHP at the wheels
Porsche fan conversion with carbon/kevlar fan shroud
Twin 44 IDF webbers
123 electronic distributor.
Large remote oil cooler with scoop and fan
Bay window fuel tank.

Gearbox- Built by Bears Motorsport . 70 mph =3200 rpm and 23mpg.

Interior-
Leather front and rear seats.
woolcloth headlining.
Rock & roll 3/4 bed.
Cooker-sink-propex heater-12v electrics.
space for toilet- space for cool box.

Colour - Sealing Wax Red / Chestnut Brown

I shall be very sad to part with it but I am on the point of completing a two and a half year resto on my new bus and won't get enough use out of two.

I see this at Sand down + boy it rocks , really if any body is serious about getting a high quality bus with all the right bits I would for one push that wee bit more and get a split that really needs nothing just a new owner + to be enjoyed !!
A fantastic van and thumbs up from me good luck with the sale.

Really if you do want 1 of the best vans around take a look at whats out there and go check it out in the flesh I am pretty sure you will want it
