Signwritten 1965 Splitscreen

Advertising on behalf of a friend...
This 1965 Type 2 left the factory as a kombi and was owned by the Frank Pierce TV Repair
Company in Little Rock Arkansas. Arkansas has warm weather but some rain. So 40 years in that
state has produced the graduated surface rust (patina) all over the bus. It still has the original
Little Rock VW dealer tag (Warden) on the deck lid and a lot of the remains of the original 60’s
sign writing and logos which are visible on the original faded velvet green paint.
It has very little through rust and has had very little welding. It has never had filler.
It was mechanically overhauled around 2009 with a new straight axle kit, rear straight axle
conversion, custom axle tubes, adjustable spring plates, front lowering on narrowed beam,
shortened leaf springs, dropped spindles
The bus has had new type 3 rear brakes, a new standard exhaust and shock absorbers all round.
The front brakes were rebuilt with new cylinders and shoes. It has since had a new starter
motor, clutch, fuel pump, fuel tank, alternator conversion, starter motor and several new
batteries. It has a split charge system with leisure battery which runs the stereo and lighter
socket in the cargo area. The underside is fitted with belly pans and the whole underside is
black bitumen coated.
The 1500sp engine is original, as far as we can tell, and has just been serviced. The steering is
also all original. It starts no problem every time, has proven reliable and drives very nicely.
It has genuine polished SpeedMaster Wheels with good 185/65 rear tyres and 175/55 fronts.
The interior has a Westfalia full width rock and roll bed, Ply headlining, door and side panels.
It has also had a complete set of new door seals and window rubbers.
Some of the photos were taken for an article in VolksWorld Camper and Bus magazine back in
2009, It looks very much the same now, wheels have dulled off slightly. In these pictures the
roofrack is off a 59 panel van and can be bought separately. In the last picture the rack is one
that came with the bus and its age is unknown. It is also available separately as is the
aluminium ladder, which is from Cool Air. In the last picture you can see that the RCA Victor
logos have been cleaned and are more visible. The bus is stored in the winter under a car port
which has all four sides enclosed. The bodywork has been Ankor waxed once a year.
located in Stamford, Lincolnshire, PE92AE

The bus is now classified as VHI and is MOT exempt. It will however be sold with 12 months MOT.

£27,500
