I have a 1967 splitscreen van for sale

Post by saintjon76 » Thu Oct 26, 2017 6:45 pm

Due to ill health (and funds!) I have decided to put my unfinished 1967 RHD Splitscreen van for sale. As mentioned the van is unfinished business, so this is a project for someone out there! I've had some panels replaced, a Creative Engineering steering rack and a new gear shifter fitted. I am a complete novice at best and probably should have taken it to someone that could have done everything, but money was the problem! The work that I couldn't manage was done by Paul Chapman at 'Spanners' near Chilbolton, Hants. The interior is all my work, as you will see from photo's!
I call it the "Punk Rock-Beach Hut Vibe!" Anyway the engine is a recon original and runs well ( I drove from Winchester to Scottish Borders in one go in December '16 and had no problems except the cold!!)
MOT till May 18, Mileage: 75,687, Tax Exempt, Petrol.
I am putting this for sale at £18,000 but i'm open to offers.
The picture of the front of the van doesn't show the VW logo but it is there now.
This van is located in Jedburgh, Scottish Borders.

Hi,
Interested in the bus,
Can you please give some further details :-
Was it a UK supplied van or was it imported ??
Has any work been carried out on the brakes ??
Is bodywork work required eg panel work :- Dog legs, battery tray, barn doors, front doors, rear quarters, floors, outriggers etc
When was it resprayed ??
Many thanks
Gary

Hi Gary, I’ve only had the van about 4 years and it was in fairly poor condition. I’ve had a few panels replaced, installed a creative engineering steering rack and resprayed the van myself. The interior was just a rock & roll bed on the metal floor. I have put a laminate floor in and a tongue & groove ceiling. All cupboards, sink + hob, benches (+bed) again by me. I am not technically minded on vw’s so won’t be much help really. It does need money spent on it to do it justice, ie fuse box needs renewing, brakes (all drums) plus probably a fair few more things to be honest. I’m located in Jedburgh in the Scottish Borders if you want to have a look (or maybe if you know someone that would come and look for you) please email me if you have more questions and I’ll try to answer them for you. Many thanks Jon

Hi Gary,
The Van is currently being looked after at 'Border camper van conversions' in Hawick. It is back up to the original price of £18,000. If you are interested you can contact Graham on 07713694443. Thanks for your interest.
