*** SOLD ***

Post by busben » Tue Nov 04, 2014 7:08 pm

Offered for sale is my December '59 Deluxe. A genuine rhd 23 window samba, this is a European spec Semaphore deluxe. A rare beast and a great project with all the hard work already done. This bus has had all metalwork completed to a very good professional standard and is now very straight and ready for body & paint. A fair amount of new metal has gone into this bus, using all the best quality panels on the market, (including long & short sides - so don't be fooled by the different shades of primer - it really is very straight!). Original metal has been saved where possible, including the odd ding from the last 55 years! and there is no filler anywhere hiding anything.

Check the full ad here: http://www.thesamba.com/vw/classifieds/ ... id=1718384

& 70+ photos here: http://s1179.photobucket.com/user/busbe ... 9%20deluxe

Please ring or email with any questions, or to make an offer! Price: £27500 ono

Many thanks!

Is this an original type 24 bus? As far as I am aware sambas have belly pans, this does not? Can you show a pic of either plate in engine bay or m code detail behind passenger seat?

Cheers

As stated in the advert it is an original 23 window deluxe. The m-code plate is still in place (see ad) and confirms its authenticity as a type 244, (24 deluxe (samba) right hand drive, loading doors left). I can forward a photograph of the id plates to serious parties.
The belly pans were removed to undertake chassis repairs, not an unusual technique during a restoration using "a fair amount of new metal". The cargo floor is original so there was no other way to facilitate these repairs. Rather than replace the belly pans at this stage I was leaving their installation until the later stages of the restoration to allow correct installation of all cabling & wiring, and then adequate rustproofing of all areas. Again this is a normal technique when restoring a deluxe bus. Belly pans can be supplied if required. They are sold by a few different resto parts suppliers in the UK and Europe.

Hope that helps clarify things for you.

cheers.

Thanks to those who have offered trades :D I would ideally like to sell rather than trade hence the healthy price drop for the weekend.

Offers welcome. I'm not easily offended

Thanks.

Back to the top :D

I don't bite so try an offer if you're interested or ring for a chat  Plenty of offers of trades and a few timewasters as per usual but she's still here and looking for a new home.

Thanks a lot.

Good price, can't see it being around for long.

Does it come with any parts?

Thanks

Haha. I know Rob but I'd rather sell it for a lower price and see someone finish it than have it sat here in my garage gathering dust. I think it's cheap for a rhd 23 with all the metalwork already done! It's the new repair panels that always cost the most .........and the welding itself! This could be painted and put together in plenty of time for the VolksWorld show, or for the start of the wedding season

The only parts include are those mentioned in the ad. I'd say the trim, glass and ragtop are the main costs to get this on the road but all regularly available second hand, or new if you just want shiny and can't be bothered to trawl ssvc, thesamba and ebay. A complete set of trim sold for under £200 the other day, I figured £800 for the rag top, and glass is always coming up for sale, or get some cut, or just hit Creative up for glass an pop outs.

Thanks Orb dude. I know matey, you could spend as much or more on a rusty shi*ter with stacks of welding work to do and panels to buy. Genuinely thought this would be long gone too. There you go dude, that's how it goes sometimes.

Hopefully catch you soon dude. Hope you're all well.

Laters,

Ben
