Have the black plastic knobed surface mounted gas tap to go on the front face of the full width rear seat in our Devonette.

I now have two different face mounted brass gas taps but still looking for a chromed one.
Anyone?

Would one of these be any good as the one in the engine bay for connecting my gas bottle to Graham? If not, I need one please or any tips on where to find one!

Well ....depends if you are wanting to replicate the original early layout...or make a practical variation...
I would look at the posts from monkey Knuts....on his 1963 RHD Caravette..

Just visible on LHS

Early Devon Caravettes had the gas bottle in the engine bay...something to do with the regulations at that time..which was designed so that you carried the bottle in the rear but had to open the engine lid and connect the gas bottle sat outside the bus. This looks to have been modified around 1962 or 1963..
The gas bottle sat on the NS bottle tray with a regulator on it but could not be connected to feed gas into the connector nozzle on the top of the engine valance...without opening the engine lid....and usually sitting the bottle outside.

I believe this was to stop you having the gas connected while you were driving...
Pictures on Julian's pages..I will dig..

The system was designed to have a junction going to a tap on the front of the rear seat and on the side of the upright cupboard side.. The copper pipe came through a hole in the engine heel board and then went to a chromed tap on the side of the front cupboard and under the floor to the front cupboard. This allowed the cooker to be operated outside via the front seat tap or inside on the front cuoboard. The cooker could be clipped on the front of the cupboard with flushmount clips on the cooker and on the cupboard lower rail..

Details can be found on these pages...

For my Devonette..
I am fitting a black plastic knobbed gas tap on the face of the full width rear seat and I want a chromed one on the side of the cupboard!

I have spare chromed but with a two screw T-base instead of the round plate. Otherwise identical. I think I sent you photos once upon a long time ago.

This hsows it well: https://www.flickr.com/photos/7636148@N06/8676935943/

I have been using that thread for my floor and gas pipe route - it is VERY informative.

I still don't have this gas connection though - I do have both of the ones in the cabin.

If anyone knows a source of this type of connection (or what it is called so I can do a targeted search please :) )

Also, how was the gas bottle secured in the engine bay?

Cheers,

Dave

You did thank you... after a long search... I have the one with the T bar base with rear feed for the front of the rear cupboard/ cooker...
I have a brass version with rear feed for the side of the front cupboard and I have searched for the rear fitting that Bally mentions... but really need a gas engineer with knowledge of suppliers...
They will be there...
I will let you know..
