My guess is that it may be something to keep the cooker hood away from the vinyl trim on the window surround?

To prevent this sort of damage....from the cooker hood?

Or may be it is a trendy hook to hang your coat on or a night light?

I did think that could be one possibility. There's a stud further down too which seems to serve no purpose.

Well there is no mention of this item on the cooker page of the "Devon Caravette Standard Instructions" book for 1965/1966......
Of course you have both looked in there haven't you?

There is no mention in the "Devon Caravette Spaceway Instructions" for 1966-1967 either but the cooker is behind the passenger on this model....
The one thing we do know is they are on 1966 vans.....

So anyone?

It is designed for hanging a tea towel from.

It is only to be used when the cooker is in action and at times when you have had enough of your bus and have it insured for a high agreed value.

Hope this helps.

PS - Check the date.

Good one :D

There's no mention in the catalogues. I don't have a shield for my cooker so can't see where it would line, but it seems like a genuine fitment so it will be going back on.

Yours should have a shield if it is a Caravette standard...

Hopefully I will be able to test it out in a few weeks once the van is refitted. Unfortunately mine came with no heat shield, and a later Dudley. I do have an earlier one with a shield so I will play around and see what's what.
