They haven’t been coated yet as I’m not sure what route to take. Gold zinc or silver? Was tempted by black but they won’t look very original then 8O
Here’s a photo of one
joke with Boyden..
sorry!
I know vwdave was looking for complete slider catches and I was asking about the bases..
the slide part is possible to machine the easily.. then a suitable knob. The base is cast with an attached spring..

Okay no worries lol.
I was tempted remove the complete sliding bolt and catch from mine but I don’t really want to that.
I didn’t really want to remove the hinges either

On mine the hinges screwed on, maybe stripped before.
Looked at pictures of vwdave item..rivetted.
The slider was rivetted.. The rivet is a tube rivet with corrugations on the outside for wood!
I attempted to remove and made a real pig of it drilled the alloy rivet body but eventually that spun and then when pulling it out ended up with a real BIG HOLE..
DISASTER..
Was patched and unseen but learnt a lot!

Ah, the hinges are (were) all riveted on this unit.
They won’t be now tho.
I definitely won’t be touching the slider.

I have another question
What is the correct name for the Formica on the inside of this unit? And do you know if it’s still available?
Cheers for your help

Grey muslin..I believe..
I know that it WAS still available but not easily found a few years ago. I was offerred a full sheet.
Was used from 1963.
Before that Brown muslin. I wanted Brown muslin for my 62. vwdave found some large pieces for me..
Never found a code
I know vwdave found some from a local contact... ask him if he has some spare.
Kevin Jackson sourced some but found it very hard to find and was looking at an alternative.
