Think i need to post some photos of my interior and see what you guys make of it ( diagnose it ).
It could be modified or Devon hybrid as the badge say caravette but has a spaceway cooker where the wardrobe was and easicool where the sink is in the above photos

Badge says Caravette... Then it should be a Devon Caravette Spaceway WT?
I have posted pictures from the brochure on another thread seeking a table.... I will copy across to here if you want.
So post pictures of your Devon Spaceway Caravette WT so we can see.

I have not seen a door separated but it may be to allow the spout to come out of one side while you operate the pump handle from above..

You are getting close to unknown territory.. I have not owned this model!

But, as Einstein said when he was asked his telephone number..
" I do not know, but I know where to look!"

yes please to the gas tap.

The above photos are early bus, as you describe it sounds correct for a Spaceway.
I can help with detailed pictures of what I have seen and if the links have downloaded the pictures you can look in the Devon brochure section

WT = Walk Through (ie no solid bulkhead, you can walk between the front seats into the back)

i should have got that one but my van has bulk head...i always wished it was WT.
so what do you think it could have been upgraded in early life of some sort of optional thing ?

The divide and the horizontal catch are new ones on me. I suspect they are home modifications.

The taps do come up although not very often these days - about one a year pops up on ebay. They are a Whale pump tap, I will keep my eyes peeled for you.

On the naming front, Devon interiors were named by trim level where Caravette was the better model and Devonette was the cheaper one to begin with, replaced later by the more successful Tourvette. Spaceway models were the same spec level but for a walk-through bus. So yours is a Caravette Spaceway interior, being both a Caravette spec and for a walk-through bus.

If you don't have a walk through bus then it's likely that interior wasn't original to your bus?

...except you have awning rails and poppers which suggests maybe it was?

So maybe someone special ordered the Spaceway interior in a bulkhead bus? Or maybe someone swapped it out at a later date because they preferred the layout?

The Spaceway layout is very versatile being able to cook inside or outside and with flexible seating including three forward-facing passengers.

The woods look of different ages / differently restored between the seats (which would have been standard for a bulkhead model too) vs the cooker and rear easicool cover which would have been Spaceway specific.

There's no way of saying for sure but if I was a betting man I'd say someone has swapped in the Spaceway cooker and easicool to make it more practical for their needs.

Nice looking bus by the way. Did we establish whether it was a factory Devon? There aren't that many factory Devon sambas around.

Also nice colour on the doorcards, are they Aero Papyrus? Or some later addition?

The wood on the spaceway and easicool look a different colour so always thought it had been altered.
I was once told (pre net days) the wood above easicool moved forward so you can sit in front of cooked. Is that true?
and i never knew what the cubby hole was for ?
wisdom please gentlemen ?

Ok definitely a bulkhead model. The 'cubby hole' has had the edge batons and the door added - it was originally just a slot which engages with the back of the cooker unit which originally would have been where your easicool now is

That has always been my suspicion clymoj that it had been upgraded by a early owner .
Thank you it was my first car and has been with me a long way now (27 years Nine country's two tours of europe and countess camping /surf trips and vw shows weekenders)
I do not know for sure if it is a true devon ? I can add a photo of the vin plate if you guys can read the matrix off it ?
it always had the awning rails and no awning so have always thought it was untouched back when i got it
Yes the now extinct aero pap and steel blue i think.
(looking for RHD driver side kick plate in that blue if anyone can help ?)
