What knob fits on this gas tap?

Post by vwJim » Sat Feb 25, 2017 8:45 am

What would the knob look like that would of been fitted to a 61/62 gas tap?

Thanks

I have seen several different types of gas taps fitted to Devon conversions.
I think that Devon operated on a limited parts bin and went out to buy whatever parts they could when they had a supply shortage or change of supplier.

I was seeking to buy ones with a straight through pipe like in my thread. But these come with the control on the side of the spout. Yours is top controlled with the outlet at 90 degrees.

The standard fitment had a round base screwed onto the surface with the gas supply pipe coming through from the rear.

I believe this style had a black plastic knob. I have seen these with a round knob which may be later and with a oval shaped black knob.
I cannot see the side of the shaft..
But it looks to be fitted with a central screw.
Have a picture or two somewhere..

Off to look..

One fitted to rear seat..but this was a later footed style fitted to a repro seat base.

Thanks, I don't have a tap yet, just so I know what to keep an eye out for.

Yes
This style has a foot rather than a round base.
AFAIK..this is a needle style vslve where the gss flow is interrupted by scrwing a cone shape onto a seat stopping the flow.
The inline syle has a rotating shaft with a hole in it which is thuned into line to allow gas through.
They sometimes leak around the face and I recall lapping the surfaces with bluebell metal lolish and using gas grease to effect a seal on a similar old camping gastap.

I think I will be using new gas taps!
If I can obtain..

...that's because it is from Caravan Supplies

I bought it for Jason (splitmaster) when he was copying my interior. That is a photo of his interior

It is identical to my original ones other than the base which is circular
