Mine did the same from C & C. And their door handles.

Surely what is needed is to start a list of parts (including og part numbers) and then where to get the best quality ones (and the worse).

Perhaps then suppliers will start to get the message?

I know the problem is that things rust in germany as well...but I would ask them to replace them as they are "Not fit for purpose" and then if they do not oblige, name and shame them and we all send them links to the post, asking if we should buy because they rust!

I've just had my dynamo go on fire in my 65 Devon and if it was not for some very quick action with a fire extinguisher I would no longer have a bus.... :(
Needless to say it was a new Dynamo that was fitted to my bus by the previous owner that although it claims to be Hella made in Germany it has been fitted with the best bearings the Chinese Republic can make.
I can give you a list a mile long of the very poor and dam right dangerous products that a lot of the current suppliers are claiming there is no alternatives on the market but it is my opinion that they should be held more accountable for the products that they sell.
I spent 26 years as a Retailer and I would never have had the Brass Neck to pass off some of the products some of the current retailers are passing off as GOOD, GENUINE or ORIGINAL quality.
There fore I think it is long overdue to spread the word and name and shame to those that either don't know what the difference in quality is or don't care?
Oh and I do know that some people have to live on a limited budget. BUT I for one would rather spend my last Quid rather than stand and watch my bus BURN TO THE GROUND

It seems as with fuel pipe that the quality from a lot of spares companies has slipped.

Don't really want to go into to much detail about all the Naff product for our VW's as I am already mister unpopular with a few suppliers. Like I've already said more than 20 years as a retailer including selling car spares makes me all to aware of what our consumer rights are and there are plenty of bad apples out there jumping on the VW Campers popularity.

So here is a current problem that most people are un aware of regarding FUEL LINES.
Most companies are mow putting methanol in their petrol and flying the flag as a more environmentally friendly fuel...... :flower:
Trouble is it melts the fuel lines in no time as there is a shortage of Laytex and gum in the modern rubber as most of it gets recycled along with everything else these days.
Very few makers re enforce their fuel lines with cotton mesh throughout like they used to.
End result is the modern fuel softens up the poor quality fuel line which goes out of shape and either drops of its union or splits.
This problem is also showing its ugly head with Carb and Fuel pump rebuild kits as the little diaphragms are not able to cope with modern fuel.
Like I said before there is a lot of product out there that needs highlighted as LEAVE well alone
and my opinion is based on 40 years of driving Aircooled Volkswagens if more of us send product back to the retailer even after several months or even years they will soon care about reproduction quality.
