Whynismit when you phone the sales section of a company to buy something they are never experiencing unusually high call volumes and answer the phone immediately.

...when you phone the same company to ask for some post sale service they are always experiencing unusually high call volumes....

.....why can't they just be honest and say we can't be arsed to pay for staff to deal with you unless we are actually making money from you.

This applies across every organisation I have ever come across
